Job Readiness kickoff set for Jan. 22 in Hartwell
ATLANTA – The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will be offering a number of informational workshops in Hartwell on Wednesday, Jan. 22, aimed at assisting job seekers in their search for employment.
The Job Readiness event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Highway, across from the Walmart.
The GDOL’s Special Workforce Assistance Team (SWAT) will offer a number of workshops including “Marketing Yourself Using Social Media,” “Interviewing Skills,” “Effective Job Search,” “Creating a Value-Based Résumé,” and “How to Succeed at a Career Expo.”
Attendees will also receive hands-on assistance in developing their own social media pages, creating personal business cards for their job search, and developing their own 30-second “commercial” to market themselves for new career opportunities. Résumé reviews will be available, and a limited number of participants will be selected to have their résumé re-written by one of the GDOL professional résumé writers.
Those attending the Job Readiness Kickoff will receive a ticket for early admission to an upcoming career expo and the first chance to meet with potential employers before the doors open to the general public. The career expo will be held Monday, Feb. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cateechee Golf Club in Hart County.
