CUMMING - With a special election coming up early next month, election officials in Forsyth County are issuing reminders to those people who will be eligible to vote in the election.

In November the county Board of Voter Registrations and Elections voted to implement precinct and polling location changes affecting the majority of voters in Forsyth County. Those voters in Georgia House District 22 immediately affected by this change, i.e., those in the former Vickery precinct who have experienced a change to their polling location, were mailed a precinct card on December 5 notifying them of the change. All other voters who have experienced changes to their polling location will be mailed notification in 2014 prior to the next General Primary.

The Brandywine, Polo and Midway polling locations will be open on Election Day for those voters residing in Georgia House District 22. No other polling locations will be open in Forsyth County on Election Day because only those voters - about 11,000 people - who reside in Georgia House District 22 are eligible to vote in this election.

The Forsyth County Voter Registrations and Elections Office has developed a Voter Information Guide which contains basic information about voting in the upcoming election. (It can be accessed by clicking on the first link below.)

Four Republicans are running for the vacancy created in October by the death of Rep. Calvin Hill of Canton. (See second link below.)

The elections office's main web page can also be accessed from the county’s main web page at www.forsythco.com (from the main page simply click on the ‘Election Information’ tab in the top left corner of the page).

Georgia House District 22 includes portions of Forsyth, Cherokee and Fulton counties.
