MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Local officials in central Georgia say some counties in the state may want another transportation tax vote, even after most state voters rejected the idea last year.

Bibb County Commission Chairman Sam Hart told the Macon Telegraph ( http://bit.ly/1eg7X9W ) that he and his colleagues are considering asking the legislature for permission to hold another referendum on a local one penny sales tax.

The Macon area, which includes Bibb County, was among the Georgia regions that rejected the last so-called "T-SPLOST" proposal in 2012. Only three of 11 counties in the region approved that plan.

State Rep. Allen Peake told the newspaper he's since seen lots of movement from counties who want legislators to authorize new votes. The General Assembly convenes early next year.
