State Supt. Barge examines graduation rates with W.C. Supt. Dr. Jeff Wilson and Principal John Osborne.
CLEVELAND - State School Superintendent John D. Barge paid a visit to White County Thursday, a day after the White County School System was recognized as having the third-best graduation rate in the state.

The visit was not related to the graduation news, Barge said, but is part of the commitment he made when became state school superintendent to visit each school district in the state.

He said it's a great way to encourage teachers and school administrators and find out what's unique about each system.

"I have been able to see some amazing things in the rural parts of our state that Im able to take back and share with other people," Barge said. "Sometimes a lot of our rural communities dont have a lot of interaction with other districts so its a great opportunity to share the good things that are going on across the state with other districts.

White County High School Principal John Osborne said his school had a lot to show the superintendent.

We have such a well-rounded program from arts to CTAE to our academics and everything we offer during the day, we are so proud, Osborne said.

During his visit, Barge had lunch with White County High School students and dropped in on some classroom activities.
