WASHINGTON D.C. - 9th District Congressman Doug Collins was among ten members of the Georgia House delegation voting for a budget plan that passed Thursday night.

"This budget is far from perfect, but sets us back on the path of appropriating funds in the thorough and fair manner the Constitution intended. For that reason, I supported the measure and look forward to using this budget as a foundation for finding more immediate savings for the American people in 2014," Collins said in a statement released Friday.

According to House Clerk's Office, the only members of the delegation who did not vote for it were Republicans Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey and Jack Kingston - all announced candidates for the Senate seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss next year.

Those voting for measure included six Republicans and four Democrats. Democrat Sanford Bishop did not vote.

The measure passed the House by a vote of 332-94 with 7 representatives not voting. It now goes to the Senate which is expected to consider it next week.

Collins also looked back on budget stalemates in the past, saying his constituents want Congress to return to Article I responsibilities.

"Congress was designed to govern this country through regular order. The failure to agree to a budget over the past several years has empowered President Obama and created uncertainty across virtually every level of government. Today, that stops."
