Fair St. students getting lesson in oral health
COSTA MESA, Calif. – As part of CareCredit’s seventh consecutive year of donating to the ADA Foundation Give Kids A Smile (GKAS), the company is teaming up with TeamSmile, the Atlanta Falcons, and GKAS to fund an oral health education and treatment program for underserved children on December 6 at Fair Street Elementary School in Gainesville. This will be the seventh GKAS event sponsored this year with the help of CareCredit’s $100,000 donation.
At this year’s event 300 students will learn about oral health through the 2min2x campaign created by the Ad Council that has attracted over 1.3 million visitors to the campaign website. The campaign encourages kids to spend two minutes brushing their teeth, two times a day. Additionally, the children will be provided free oral health care education and toothbrush kits. Eighteen dentists, 18 dental assistants, 12 hygienists and 20 volunteers will provide free dental screenings and treatment while Atlanta Falcons players, including Tony Gonzalez, will be on hand to meet the kids and show their support for the community.
“As founding donor of the ADA Foundation GKAS Continuity of Care Fund, we’re thrilled to join forces with TeamSmile. This new partnership has produced a wonderful event and allowed the good work done by GKAS to reach even more children within a new venue with a football fan base,” said Cindy Hearn, senior vice president of branding and communications for CareCredit, 2013 advisory committee member of the GKAS National Advisory Committee, and an ADA Foundation board member.
