Hollis leads Nighthawks to victory over Lee University
YOUNG HARRIS -– The University of North Georgia men's basketball team placed six players in double figures in a 103-81 victory over Lee University at the Peach Belt / Gulf South Challenge held at Young Harris College. Ishmael Hollis registered a game-high 27 points on an efficient 7-13 from the field and capped his third consecutive double-double with 12 rebounds.
North Georgia raced out of the gate to score nine of the game's first 10 points and did not allow at LU field goal until the 15:51 mark when Thomas connected on a three-point attempt.
From there UNG would put its foot on the gas and would extend its lead to as many as 27 (52-25) before halftime and Lee would not be able to overcome the large deficit after intermission.
Freshman Shaquan Cantrell added a season-high 19 points on 7-11 from the field including 2-3 from behind the three-point line. Michae Varrichione added 13 points and was a rebound shy of his own double-double with nine collections.
Corey Green and Lamar Richardson added 12 and 11 points respectively. Travis Core rounded out the Nighthawks' double figure scorers with 10 points to compliment his game best eight assists and three steals.
For Lee (3-2) Corey Billingsley and Tyquan Roberts led the way with 22 and 19 points respectively. Valentino Thomas added 16 for the Flames.
North Georgia (2-2) returns to action on Wednesday with the team's home opener as Limestone College comes to Memorial Hall for a 7 p.m. tip off.
