BRASELTON - The Town Council of Braselton honored citizens and recognized a key employee during its meeting Monday evening.

Zac Schuetz received a special letter from Mayor Bill Orr and was commended by the Council for carrying the Flame of Hope during the opening ceremonies of the Georgia Special Olympics fall games. Schuetz represented the law enforcement community of Gwinnett County, of which Braselton is a part, and is a graduate of Mill Creek High School. He is the son of Bob and Catherine Schuetz of Braselton.

Braselton's Municipal Court Clerk, Dawn Farris, was lauded for being named the Clerk of the Year by the Georgia Municipal Court Clerks Council. The prestigious award comes as a result of "professional development, continuing education and the efficiency" of the municipal court. Farris was nominated for the award by Municipal Court Judge Graham McKinnon.

Graduates of the Braselton Citizens Academy were recognized and commended for the multi-week, municipal-education course.

Mike Braselton said, "I enjoyed this immensely; it was very informative and a lot more is going on then I imagined; I felt at home with the classes." Lee Yarrell added, "it was a wonderful experience in which every civic-minded citizen should participate."
