Woerner, Wildcats tune up for playoffs, demolish Oglethorpe

LEXINGTON – Charlie Woerner ran for 151 yards and three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass to lead Rabun County to 57-0 rout of Oglethorpe County Friday night.
The Wildcats (8-2, 5-2 Region 8-AA) finished the season on a three-game winning streak and will take the No. 3 seed from 8-AA into next week's first round matchup against Greater Atlanta Christian in the Class AA state playoffs.
Woerner opened the scoring with a 43-yard TD pass from hunter Sims four minutes into the game and added first half TD runs of 38, 28, and 5 yards sandwiched around a Sims 9-yard TD run as the Wildcats led 36-0 at halftime.
Woerner would finish his scoring on a 63-yard TD run on the first play of the second half.
Rabun County piled up 452 yards of offense to just 152 for the Patriots (1-9, 1-6).
Dan Dailey added a 25-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and Eli Gibson had an 11-yard TD run late in the third quarter.
The Wildcats are looking for their first playoff win since 1998 when they advanced to the quarterfinals.
