HOMER - Two people were arrested by Banks County officers Saturday, but not without a brief foot chase to capture the male.

On Friday, deputies responded to a reported dispute between a male and female in the Banks Crossing area.

"Sgt. Perry Shirley and Deputy Spenser Ventrice made contact with the described subjects in the parking lot of Banks Crossing Shopping Center," said Deputy Carissa McFaddin. "The male and female presented their names to be Tristan Guthrie and Natasha Young. After speaking with the subjects, deputies found that a dispute was not present and left the scene."

After the pair had been allowed to leave, another Banks County deputy contacted Ventrice and suggested the male had given the name of his younger brother to avoid being arrested.

"Further investigation revealed that the actual names of the individuals were Brandon Cody Metcalf and Cynthia Leigh Cole," McFaddin said. "It was confirmed that Cole had an outstanding warrant out of Greene County."

When officers went to a home on Spring Street in Commerce on Saturday, they made contact with the pair.

"While Deputy Ventrice was attempting to arrest Metcalf, Metcalf was able to break away from Deputy Ventrice's grip and ran on foot," McFaddin said. "After a short foot pursuit, Deputy Ventrice was able to complete an arrest on Metcalf."

Shirley arrested Cole at the residence without incident.

Metcalf and Cole were charged with giving false information and birthdate to law enforcement personnel.
