Funeral Saturday for founder of Fiddleheads
DAHLONEGA - Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday for the founder of the Dahlonega-based band The Fiddleheads.
Zak McConnell died of natural causes - possibly heart failure - at the age of 26 on Tuesday, according to a statement on the band's website.
A part of the statement read:
"Zak was kind, humble, passionate, compassionate, respectful and intelligent. We have lost someone who was a dear friend, a son, a brother, and a husband. And a world-class musician who played every note of every song with all of the passion that was in his young heart."
McConnell founded the band in 2009 at the University of North Georgia and had been in school at the university of Georgia pursuing an MBA at the time of his death.
While the Fiddleheads were well-known in north Georgia, the band gained national notoriety in 2011 as finalists on the TV show "America's Got Talent."
Funeral information is available on the AccessNorthGA.com obituary page.
