Collins chosen for MAG's Distinguished Service Award
ATLANTA – Mimi Collins, the CEO of The Longstreet Clinic (TLC) in Gainesville, received the Donna Glass Non-Physician Distinguished Service Award during the Medical Association of Georgia’s (MAG) 159th House of Delegates meeting recently. The award honors a non-physician for contributions to the advancement and support of medicine.
Collins was nominated for the award by TLC neurologist and MAG member E. Frank McDonald Jr., M.D. He said that “(Collins) believes in a collaborative health care model and has worked with TLC’s physicians, Northeast Georgia Health System, the Hall County Health Department, insurance companies and other health care entities to address the health care needs of the community.”
Collins was honored with the Georgia Public Health Association’s Maternal Child Health Community Service Award in 2013 for her contributions to the health and well-being of mothers and children in Georgia, while the Gainesville Rotary Club recognized her for her efforts with its W. Lee Arrendale Award for Vocational Excellence and Community Leadership in 2011.
In addition, Gov. Nathan Deal recently appointed Collins to the board of the Georgia Department of Community Health. She is a founding board member of the Glory, Hope & Life organization in Northeast Georgia – a “nonprofit that works locally to enrich the lives of cancer patients, survivors and caregivers” – and she is a member of the board of directors for both the United Way of Hall County and the Vision 2030 organization in Hall County.
Collins has been the CEO of TLC since it was founded in 1995. TLC is a fully integrated, private multi-specialty medical group with offices in nine northeast Georgia cities. It employs some 600 people, including more than 100 physicians and 50 mid-level providers who represent more than 15 specialties.
Collins lives in Gainesville.
