TOCCOA - Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa has released more information about a three-vehicle wreck that shut down U.S. Highway 441 in Clayton for 90 minutes Monday night.

Trooper 1st Class Casey Coffee said the wreck happened at 7:34 p.m. on Georgia 15 (U.S. 441) north of Duvall Street.

The wreck occurred when a green 2003 Saturn L210 driven by 53-year-old Sara Ann Boyd of Bryson City, N.C., attempted to enter Georgia 15 southbound from the RaceTrac parking lot, colliding with a white 1994 Toyota pickup driven by Ethon Cain McCracken of Lakemont, which was traveling south on Georgia 15 in the left lane, Coffee said.

After that impact, the truck was pushed into the right lane of Georgia 15 and collided with a red 2007 Ford Escape driven by 73-year-old Catherine Watts Barnett of Lakemont that was southbound on Georgia 15 in the right lane. After that collision, the Ford Escape rotated counterclockwise and overturned onto its left side on the sidewalk, he said.

Boyd, who was not injured, was cited for failure to yield right of way, Coffee said.

McCracken, who was listed as suffering unspecified injuries, was not transported for treatment, Coffee said.

Barnett, who suffered unspecified injuries, was trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to Mountain Lakes Medical Center in Clayton.
