CONYERS -- Jackson McDonald may not have had full use of his legs on Friday, but he showed his arm is more than capable of taking up the slack.

Playing with a slight ankle injury, the Flowery Branch quarterback tossed three first half touchdowns to help the Falcons pull away from Heritage 33-0 in Conyers.

"We couldn't run all of the plays we usually run, but Jackson still played really well," Flowery Branch coach Chris Griffin said of his senior dual-threat quarterback.

McDonald helped the Falcons offense to take off in the second quarter with a 51-yard touchdown strike to Cam Davis. That followed a nine-yard TD pass to Davante King in the first quarter. McDonald also found Jemon Randolph for a 24-yard touchdown pass just before the half.

With the way the Falcons defense was playing even one touchdown pass would have been enough.

"We've been playing really sound against the run," Griffin said. "We've still got a few things to work on, but we're playing really well now."

The Falcons (6-2, 6-0 Region 8-AAAAA) claimed their sixth straight Region 8-AAAAA victory and became one of just two undefeated teams in 8-AAAAA play on Friday after Gainesville also knocked off Clarke Central.

The Falcons will play host to Clarke Central next week, knowing that a victory would set up a de facto region championship game with the Red Elephants on Nov. 8 in Gainesville.

"It's all set up like we hoped it would when region play started," Griffin said. "We're exactly where we want to be, and next week will be as big a region game as we've played all year."
