U.S. Rep. Doug Collins
WASHINGTON - Ninth District Congressman Doug Collins and the eight other Republican members of the Georgia House delegation voted "no" Wednesday night on the bill that ended the government shutdown and avoided a threatened federal default. All five Democrats in the delegation voted "yes." That's according to an Associated Press "roll call" of House votes.

Efforts to reach Collins or his aides for comment today have thusfar failed.

But, U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, who district covers part of northeast Georgia, issued a statement last night saying, in part, “From the beginning, I have pledged to oppose any spending bill that does not fully defund or delay Obamacare. Unfortunately, despite the overwhelming cries from the American people to defund and dismantle this law, the Senate refused to respect and honor the will of the American people, and Obamacare will continue to be funded through tonight’s spending bill."

Broun, who has announced plans to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Saxby Chambliss next year, represents Georgia's 10th Congressional District. On the Senate side last night, Chambliss and Georgia's other Senator, Johnny Isakson, each voted for the measure.
