Mobile home burned near Baldwin
By Rob Moore Editor
BALDWIN - Habersham County and Baldwin officials responded Wednesday morning to what turned out to be a mobile home fire.
Habersham County Fire Chief Jeff Cain said at the scene that Baldwin firefighters were returning from another call when they saw the column of smoke.
The structure was located on Kitchens Road at Simmemon Road, just off Duncan Bridge Road in Baldwin.
"It appeared to be like a 20-by-50 double-wide trailer that they'd burnt trying to get rid of it, I believe," Cain said. "It's going to end up being an illegal burn."
A Georgia Department of Natural Resources officer was on scene talking with the owner about the illegal burn, Cain said.
In addition, three Baldwin police officers and three Habersham County Sheriff's deputies responded to the fire department's request for law enforcement.
The structure and its contents were destroyed.
