By Jeff Hart Staff
BLUE RIDGE – North Hall used a 28 first quarter to jump on Fannin County quickly and then cruised to a 62-7 win Friday night in Region 7-AAA action.
The win keeps the Trojans (6-0, 3-0 Region 7-AAA) tied with Buford, which beat White County 42-6, atop the region standings.
Andrew Smith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Trojans offense. Smith connected with Nolan Tucker less than two minutes into the game on a 14-yard TD pass, and after a 56-yard TD run by Zac Little two minutes later, Smith added a 3-yard TD run to give North Hall a 21-0 lead less than six minutes into the game.
The Trojans would score 20 points in the second quarter for a 48-0 halftime lead. David Epps would take a Smith pass 46 yards for a score, Tucker would score on an 11-yard run, and Brannon Dyer added a 55-yard TD run in the quarter.
Austin Perry would make it a 55-0 lead on a 29-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. After Fannin County (1-5, 0-3) cut the lead to 55-7 on a touchdown pass from Trevor Stone to Ryan Welch late in third quarter, North Hall’s Stephen Murray capped the scoring with a 4-yard TD run with 5:25 left in the game.
The North Hall defense was stellar limiting Fannin County to minus-1 yard rushing on 25 carries for the game. The Rebels were held to 122 total yards while North Hall piled up 454 total yards, including 342 rushing.
North Hall will put its region unbeaten streak on the line next week traveling to rival White County.
