No. 1 North Gwinnett pulls off miracle rally to beat Mill Creek

SUWANEE – Class AAAAAA No. 1 North Gwinnett scored 22 points in the final 6:30 to pull off a miraculous 50-47 win over Mill Creek Friday night in a key Region 7-AAAAAA contest.
The Bulldogs (6-0, 4-0 Region 7-AAAAAA) trailed 34-14 at one point during the second half and trailed 47-28 when the comeback began. They recovered a fumble and would score three players. After a stop on defense, North Gwinnett would score again to close the gap to 47-42.
The Bulldogs would recover on onsides kick and then CJ Leggitt would cap the drive with a 15-yard TD run with 2:20 left in the game.
The North Gwinnett defense would make one final stop and then the Bulldogs ran out the clock to complete the miracle finish.
“I don’t know how we did it to be honest with you,” North Gwinnett coach Bob Sphire said. “Our guys just never quit. I’ve never seen anything like it. Unbelievable.”
Leggitt would finish with 115 yards rushing and the one touchdown. Hayden Sphire was 17-of-30 passing for 267 yards and five touchdowns. He also was picked off three times.
Nate Brown had eight receptions for 146 yards and four touchdowns for North Gwinnett.
