'Battle of the Brave' set tonight in Homer
By Rob Moore Editor
HOMER - Leopard Stadium at Banks County High School in Homer will be filled with football action tonight, but this time it won't be high school athletes.
Instead, fans will be able to watch the annual flag football competition between Banks County Sheriff's Office and Banks County Fire and EMS.
The revamped Battle of the Brave Charity Bowl will raise funds for the Food 2 Kids Program, organized through the Banks County Rotary Club to aid county children identified by school teachers, counselors and community officials as being in danger of going without food.
Capt. Darrell Crane of Banks County Sheriff’s Office and Capt. Bo Purvis of Banks County Fire and EMS are coordinating the event.
“This is a great opportunity for both departments to come together and support our community,” Crane said. “The kids of this community are important to us. We hope to see the citizens join us by attending and cheering on their favorite team.”
Game time is 7 p.m. at the Banks County Leopard Stadium. Admission is free, with donations encouraged to benefit Food 2 Kids.
Concessions will be available.
