Volleyball: Lakeview stays alive in 8-A tourney

ATHENS -- The Lakeview girls volleyball team stayed alive in the Region 8-A tournament Thursday night.

The Lady Lions, seeded third, were upset by sixth-seed George Walton 25-21, 25-23 and then were taken to the brink by eighth-seeded Tallulah Falls before escaping with a 25-9, 23-25, 25-12 win.

The tournament will resume Saturday at Providence Christian Academy.

Katie White recorded 11 kills, 16 digs, and two aces for Lakeview on the night. Katie Gay added nine kills and Shelby Ross had six kills, four aces, nine digs, and two blocks for the Lady Lions.

Peaches Shipley had six kills, four aces, and one block, and Bailey Towles added 19 assists and five aces for Lakeview.
