UNDATED - "The burbs are back." So says Forbes Magazine in a story that lists Forsyth County among the fastest-growing counties in the country since the recession ended.

The report says the suburbs are coming to life again - zeroing in on an analysis by demographer Wendell Cox of the counties with populations over 100,000 that have gained the most new residents since 2010.

It follows by just weeks announcements out of Forsyth County that county officials were being asked to approve applications for more than 1,000 new housing units. (See earlier story. First link below.) Before the recession, Forsyth was consistently ranked at or near the top among the fastest-growing counties in the country.

Williamson County, Texas, with a population growth rate of 7.94% between 2010-2012 is at the top of the list cited in the Forbes report. It has a population of 456,232.

Midland County, Texas, is sixth, just ahead of Forsyth. It has a population of 146,645 and experienced population growth rate of 7.14% between 2010-2012.

Forbes reports that Forsyth County - with a population of 187,928 - grew by 7.07% during the period.
