Big first half propels Wildcats past RMA

TIGER -- Rabun County exploded for 56 first half points en route to a 63-7 win over Riverside Military Academy Friday night in Region 8-AA play.
The Wildcats (5-0, 2-0 Region 8-AA) piled up over 500 yards of offense behind quarterback Wes Holcombe, who had three touchdown passes in the first half.
Rabun County led 21-0 early in the second quarter after after Eli Gibson scored on a 7-yard run and then Holcombe connected with Charlie Woerner on 58-yard TD strike .
Riverside (2-3, 1-2) would get its only points of the game late in the first quarter when Brandon Grant intercepted a Holcombe pass and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.
The Wildcats would put the game away late in the first quarter. Jordan Oliver would get a 20-yard TD pass from Holcombe and then 20 seconds later Jeremiah Brown would intercept a Riverside pass and return it 40 yards for a TD with 22 seconds left.
In the second quarter, Dan Dailey would score on a pair of touchdown runs as the Wildcats would take a 56-7 lead into halftime.
Dailey would finish with 174 yards rushing on 13 carries to pace the Rabun County offense. Holcombe would finish with 167 yards passing and three touchdowns for the Wildcats.
