CHESTNUT MOUNTAIN - Lt. Governor Casey Cagle celebrated Pre-K Week with a pre-school class at the World Language Academy (WLA) by reading a story to the class.
Cagle said he is a firm believer in the Pre-K program and participates annually in the Voices for Georgia's Children Pre-K Week. The week-long event celebrates Georgia's Pre-K program and this year, commemorates the 20th anniversary of Georgia's program.
"This is our opportunity to give back and really let these kids know that their future's very bright and we believe in them," said Cagle.
Cagle also said he believes funding these programs is critical.
"Getting kids started early in the process is a good thing. I don't necessarily think it's mandatory, but it's certainly something that needs to be an option for parents who chose to do so, and we've seen great success as a result of that and funding is critical."
Cagle also said he was pleased with what he saw at WLA.
"Will Schofield, our superintendent, along with the board members, have done a great job of really creating some different, unique things for choices for our students," said Cagle. "[Their work] really makes our school system a better institution."
