Collins said Sunday Democrats have to acknowledge that the Republican Majority in the House was duly elected ten months ago to provide a direct voice for the American people.
WASHINGTON - Ninth District Congressman Doug Collins says Senate Democrats "have to" acknowledge the Republican majority in the House and the mandate he says it received in last year's elections.

The Gainesville Republican commented Sunday following House passage late Saturday night of a bill that would avert a government shutdown Monday, while defending the new health care law.

The measure passed 231-192 and now goes to the Senate. (See separate story. First link below.) President Obama says he will veto the measure if it reaches his desk.

“(The House) voted (again) to pay the federal government’s bills, avert a government shutdown, and protect every American from the burden of Obamacare for at least another year, something the president has already chosen to do for a privileged few," the Capitol Hill freshman said. "It’s my hope that after a week of intense debate, the United States Senate sets aside its rigid partisanship and meets its responsibilities."

Collins, a frequent critic of the health care overhaul, said Democrats have to acknowledge that the Republican Majority in the House was duly elected ten months ago to provide a direct voice for the American people.

"The financial burden of Obamacare will not discriminate between those who voted for Republicans, those who voted for Democrats, and those who didn’t vote at all. Passing the House CR—again—is doing the people’s work.”
