ATLANTA - In July 2012, Gov. Nathan Deal announced that the state would pay off its bond debt and end tolls on Georgia 400 by December 2013. The ending date for toll collection has been tentatively set for the week before Thanksgiving, weather permitting.

The State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) will hold four public meetings over the next few weeks - two of them in Cumming - to provide information on the ending of tolling and the demolition process and timeline. There will be no formal presentations, but transportation representatives will be on hand to share information.

The Georgia 400 Tollway Demolition Project timeline tentatively includes:

October - Early signage removal
November - Toll collection ends the week before Thanksgiving
(weather permitting)
Spring/Summer 2014 - Completion of the demolition project
