FLOWERY BRANCH - The South Hall Republican Club has scheduled a series of political forums between now and the November 5 elections.

The meetings will focus on this year's Flowery Branch city elections and next year's U.S. Senate race.

Club President Ed Asbridge says the first will be held Monday and will feature U.S. Representative Jack Kingston, one of several Republicans who have announced plans to run for the Senate seat being vacated next year by Saxby Chambliss. Asbridge says Kingston will speak for about 30 minutes.

Also Monday night, the candidates for Post 3 on the Flowery Branch City Council - incumbent Fred Richards and challenger Ed Edwards - will be featured as will Post 4 incumbent Joe Anglin who is running unopposed.

On Monday, Oct. 7, the Flowery Branch mayoral candidates - incumbent Mike Miller and challenger Shanon Lutz - will be featured, along with the two candidates who are also running for Post 5 on the city council, incumbent Tara Richards and former councilman Chris Fetterman. In addition, U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, another candidate for the U.S. Senate, is scheduled to make an appearance.

The series of forums will close out Nov. 4 with visit from U.S. Senate candidate Karen Handel.

Each of the forums will be held at the Spout Springs Library and will begin at 6:30.
