SUWANEE - A Suwanee couple faces charges of child molestation and furnishing alcohol to minors in connection with foreign exchange students they housed in their home.
According to Gwinnett County Police, the suspect, Woo Yi, 42, and Hyun Yi, 41, received more than $15,000 from the parents of each student to host them while they went to local high schools.
Eight Korean students, male and female between the ages of 15 and 18, lived with the couple in the home at 3830 Regal Oaks Drive.
The alleged abuse came to light on Wednesday, when one of the students told a school employee what had happened in the home.
"With these six individuals we've interviewed so far we think that this has occurred four or five times since July of this year," Gwinnett County Police Corporal Jake Smith said.
The victims allege the couple gave them alcohol and forced them to strip and touch one another. According to detectives, the couple used games that required the loser to remove an item of clothing.
"Now the question is, was it occurring with maybe students that used to live with them or maybe these additional two victims that we have to interview still will provide us information saying it's gone back further than that," Smith said.
Both suspects are charged with two counts of child molestation and six counts of furnishing alcohol to minors. Additional charges are under investigation according to police.
The students have been moved to temporary homes at the request of their parents, according to police.
Authorities said the suspects were paid $15,000 for each student they housed.
