JEFFERSON - Jackson County and state authorities shut down a health care facility in Jefferson Thursday, conducting a search warrant during on ongoing investigation.
Authorities did not release the name of the facility but said it's located on Terrell Lane off of Highway 124.
"We actually became involved in this at the beginning of the week, as far as a complaint we had on a tenant at that house," Sheriff Janis Mangum said.
"Upon answering that call they found these 11 to 13 patients that were living in this home. The state authorities were called in, as far as adult protective services and the state licensing and regulatory agencies."
Mangum said the facility is owned by a man and his wife. They were under investigation, but had not been arrested.
The sheriff said investigators seized computers, several boxes of documents and bank records. Mangum didn't go into details, but said the facility was closed because of, "numerous state violations."
The current patients were relocated with family members, according to Mangum.
