Traffic stop nets $165,000 in meth
BUFORD - Gwinnett County Police seized methamphetamine worth over $165,000 on the street in a recent traffic stop near the Mall of Georgia.
According to Channel 2 News, the traffic stop on Interstate 85 led to two arrests, the meth and $2500 cash.
"In speaking and looking in the vehicle as he (officer) spoke to the driver, he became suspicious and ultimately asked for permission to search, which he received, and found the drugs inside the car," Gwinnett Police Corporal Jake Smith told Channel 2.
Smith said there were air fresheners throughout the vehicle and that the driver's itinerary didn't make sense. The drugs were in a gym bag in the back seat.
Gerardo Guerrero-Rico and Karina Estrada were charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
The stop happened last week. Both suspects remained in the Gwinnett County Jail Tuesday.
