Safe Kids plans car seat check, give away events
GAINESVILLE - Safe Kids Gainesville/Hall County is celebrating "Child Passenger Safety Week" with two car seat check nd giveaway events over the next seven days.
The schedule is as follow:
WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, September 14, 2013
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Gainesville Police Department
701 Queen City Pkwy., Gainesville
Wednesday, September 18, 2013*
3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Hall County Fire Services Station 5
4187 Falcon Pkwy., Flowery Branch
The child restraint law requires children under 8 years of age to ride in a child restraint appropriate for the child's height and weight in the vehicle rear seat.
Car Seats and Booster Seats will be distributed to children birth - 8 years old while supplies last on a first-come first-served basis. Children must be present so they can be weighed and measured for the most appropriate seat and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. One seat per child. Used or defective seats that are replaced with new ones will be kept and destroyed by Safe Kids.
Certified child passenger safety specialists will check car seats and explain how to install it correctly.
* Seats will not be distributed at the Sept. 18 event. This event is a seat check only.
