CLARKESVILLE - Ga. Highway 365 southbound was closed for several hours as the result of an accident involving an overturned poultry truck near the Tom Arrendale Interchange.
The truck flipped on its side just after 9 a.m. Tuesday on the flyover ramp where 365 runs from Toccoa into the Clarkesville area, according to authorities at the scene.
The truck itself was uprighted around 10:30 a.m., but authorities kept the road closed for another three hours to gather the live and dead chickens on the highway, as well as make repairs to the roadway.
The driver of the rig was not injured, according to reports from the scene.
The driver was working for Mountain Milk Hauling, Inc. of Virginia, according to the Georgia State Patrol, and he was driving a vehicle loaded with poultry for Pilgrim's.
