Meth ring bust spans two area counties
UNDATED - Authorities from two counties and the state arrested six people and seized close to 30 guns this week in a methamphetamine investigation.
Channel 2 News reports that authorities in Forsyth and Dawson counties, as well as the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, ran four search warrants Wednesday as part of the year-long investigation.
Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper spoke with Channel 2 and said the suspect group brought over 200 pounds of meth to the area.
Authorities have not released names or other details as the case continues.
The crackdown is on an alleged meth distribution ring with international ties, according to Channel 2.
In an e-mail to accessnorthga.com, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Karleen Chalker said search warrants in her county Wednesday were at 1555 Dawn Valley Trail, 6238 Namon Wallace Road and 2260 Fleetwood Dr.
She said four of this week's arrests stemmed from those three warrants.
In Forsyth County, Chalker said about ten people have been arrested thus far in the ongoing ingoing investigation.
She said more arrests are expected.
