ATLANTA - A case that's been underway since April of 2012 culminated this month with a man from Cumming pleading guilty for sending obscene text messages to a 15 year old girl.

Channel 2 News reports 35 year old Robert Keith Payne pleaded to a charge of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

"He will receive five years of probation. He will have to register as a sex offender, and he can have no unsupervised contact with any juveniles," Milton Police Captain Shawn McCarty told Channel 2.

Police said the girl once played for Payne on the Georgia Stealth traveling softball team.

McCarty said when it comes to working with young people, adults must be responsible.

"The adult does exert some control over them, and it's not something to be taken lightly or to be used and abused for personal gain," McCarty told the TV station.

Payne was arrested in April of last year.
