Tidwell Park gets solar powered safety lights
By Alyson Shields Staff
CUMMING - The Lake Lanier Association, with the US Army Corps of Engineers, began a solar powered pilot program at Tidwell Park this afternoon.
According to a press release from the Lake Lanier Association, Lake Lanier lacks night time illumination of hazardous areas. With the pilot program, solar powered lights will be attached to hazard signs that are already in place.
The first light was installed Friday afternoon.
The lights are solar powered with a photocell inside - the sun will charge the light, then, when it becomes dark, the light will automatically illuminate. The lights will flash yellow for one second, then remain off for three seconds.
