CLARKESVILLE - On June 6, the Technical College System of Georgia State Board approved the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Degree at the North Georgia Technical College (NGTC) Clarkesville Campus effective fall semester 2013. In addition, the program has received initial approval from the Georgia State Board of Nursing.
Recently, 30 men and women accepted to the program arrived on campus to begin their orientation as the first students in the new program. That number includes six from Hall County: Shea Conner, Kimmie Durham, Vanda Kammermeyer, Ryan Mercer, John Mercer, and Amanda Bowers.
“You are the history-making group,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs Kathie Ivester as she addressed the assembled group. “We are thrilled to have prepared this program to offer to you, and we are thrilled you are here today as our first students.”
The students also heard from representatives of the Foothills Area Health Education Center (AHEC) which provides help and resources for clinical placement in rural and medically underserved areas.
