Tornado touched down in western Georgia
By The Associated Press
FRANKLIN - National Weather Service forecasters said a tornado touched down in western Georgia Sunday night.
Meteorologists in Peachtree City said the EF1 twister touched down in Heard County near the Alabama border around 7:40 p.m. Sunday and peeled the roof and front porch from a mobile home.
County Fire Chief Scott Blue said the home was still inhabitable, and no injuries or deaths were reported.
Officials said the storm moved east and had a path of approximately half a mile.
Blue said the storm hit a mainly rural area and caused mostly tree damage.
