North Georgia women's soccer picked 16th in preseason poll
DAHLONEGA -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has released the 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II women's preseason poll with the University of North Georgia settling in at 16th on the preseason ledger.
The University of West Florida garnered the top spot while fellow Peach Belt foe Armstrong Atlantic State University landed fifth in the initial rankings. Columbus State University was the third Peach Belt Conference school in the rankings at 13th.
UNG is on the heels of its second consecutive NCAA Division II post-season appearance after tallying a 15-5-2 ledger in 2012 which landed the squad at 24th in the final NSCAA poll. The Nighthawks return 12 letter-winners off last year's squad including seven starters.
"The preseason ranking is an honor and is a culmination of our successes from previous years," stated head coach Chris Adams. "We are proud of the preseason recognition but look forward to anchoring a spot in the poll at season's end."
The Nighthawks will open season on September 6th with a neutral site match against Florida Institute of Technology. Kickoff is set for 5:00 at Valdosta State University.
