CLEVELAND - Two people were injured Monday afternoon in White County when a sport-utility vehicle collided with a deer and it crashed through the windshield of the vehicle.

The accident happened at 3 p.m. on Duncan Bridge Road near New Bridge Road.

Capt. Tim Chapman of the White County Sheriff’s office said after the 2003 Nissan Murano hit the deer, the animal went through the windshield and came to rest in the passenger's seat.

According to Chapman, a 19-year-old who was sitting in the passenger's seat received visible injuries and the teen’s mother - who was sitting behind the passenger's seat - also was injured.

Both were transported by White County Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.
