GAINESVILLE - After a month of emergency road work, Lenox Drive has been reopened.
A portion of the road, which is off Athens Highway, was undermined after a storm drain pipe failed.
Extra measures were taken to ensure the strength of the area, according to city officials.
"We installed 166 feet of 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe with wing walls to allow for greater capacity," said Stan Aiken Senior Civil Engineer for the city in a press release.
"We also reconstructed and grassed the embankment, placed rip rap (large graded rock) in a portion of the channel to protect it from erosion and armored the upstream embankment with rip rap as well," Aiken said.
The City also thanked the neighborhood for their patience over the past four weeks.
