Truett-McConnell hires Fields as men's assistant hoops coach
CLEVELAND -– Truett-McConnell College announced on Wednesday the hiring of Tiek Fields as men’s assistant basketball coach.
An Acworth native and a 2012 graduate of Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Fields was a member of the Lions basketball team and one of the winningest players in the school’s history.
Fields was named to the Southern States Athletic Conference’s All-Freshman team in 2009 and the All-Division Team in 2012. He was also awarded the National Christian College’s Athletic Association’s Honorable Mention award and the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association’s All-Academic Team the same year.
He played an integral part in the team’s NCCAA and SSAC Championships in 2009 and 2011.
Wade Mawdesley, head basketball coach for the Bears, said he’s excited for a young man with Field’s leadership experience to join his staff. “Tiek brings a wealth of experience to our program and is a quality individual who loves Jesus Christ,” he said. “He’s someone the young men on our team can emulate.”
Excited for the opportunity to coach the sport he loves, Fields said he looks forward to upcoming season. “I can’t wait to build relationships with our players and in the community and I’m ready to share the knowledge I have to help the Bears win championships.”
