GAINESVILLE – U.S. News & World Report has named the Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) as one of the best hospitals for 2013-2014.
U.S. News Best Hospitals have been ranking hospitals for 24 years. This is the second year NGMC has been selected for the national list. NGMC was also recognized as one of the best hospitals in the Piedmont region of Georgia.
Roughly 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for high performance for their region, according to U.S. News Health Rankings editor Avery Comarow.
“We are thrilled to be ranked for the second year in a row by U.S. News and World Report as a Best Hospital,” said President and CEO of the Northeast Georgia Healthcare System Carol Burrell in a press release. “This national accolade is another feather in our cap for 2013, having been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals and a 100 Top Hospitals award winner earlier this year.”
The hospital was also recognized recently as one of the “Most Wired Hospitals and Healthcare Systems of 2013” by the Most Wired Survey. Hospitals & Health Networks magazine released the 2013 results from survey, which was conducted by McKesson Corporation, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executive, AT&T and the American Hospital Association (AHA).
The rankings were published July 16 in collaboration with RTI International, a research organization based in North Carolina.
