LTC launching new program on Cumming campus
CUMMING - Lanier Technical College (LTC) is starting a new Physical Therapist Assistant Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program on it Cumming Campus. With a mix of classroom, lab, and clinical education experiences, the two-year program prepares students for entry-level positions as physical therapy assistants.
Dr. Patty Stancil will serve as the program director. Dr. Stancil is a graduate of Emory University’s Physical Therapist program and has ten years’ experience in the field from Northside Hospital Forsyth and Amedisys Home Health Care.
Physical therapy assistants in the north Georgia non-metropolitan area earn an average of $57,770 per year according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS predicts employment for physical therapy assistants to rise 46% between 2010 and 2020, a rate much faster than the average for all occupations.
Dr. Stancil will deliver an information session on June 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center to answer questions about the PTA program. The session will include information about application deadlines for potential students; anyone who is interested should call 770.781.6800 to sign up for the session.
