Unidentified cyclist seriously injured in Gillsville

GILLSVILLE - The Georgia State Patrol is trying to determine the identity of a bicyclist who collided with a car and was seriously injured Sunday morning on Bryant Quarter Road.
Investigating troopers said the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. near Cobb Griffin Road as the unidentified cyclist was traveling northbound on Bryant Quarter. A 1994 Ford Escort approached the bicycle from behind, according to the GSP report. The driver of the vehicle moved completely into the southbound lane to avoid the cyclist, but the cyclist traveled into the southbound lane and hit the vehicle in the right passenger side door.
As a result, the cyclist was seriously hurt, suffering a head injury, according to the GSP. They cyclist apparently was carrying no identification. He is described as a white male, 5'10", approximately 180 pounds, with dark hair.
The cyclist was airlifted to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.
Anyone with information on the identity of the cyclist is asked to call the Georgia State Patrol.
The GSP said there were no contributing actions to the accident on the part of the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle. No charges are expected.
