By staff, wire reports
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Habersham football is going "mile high."
Former Raider and University of Georgia receiver Tavarres King was selected by the Denver Broncos on Saturday in the fifth round of the NFL draft.
King had 136 receptions for 2,602 yards and 21 touchdowns in his college career after helping lead Habersham Central to back-to-back region titles and state quarterfinal appearances in 2006-07. King left Habersham as the sixth leading receiver in career yards in GHSA history with 3,270. His senior campaign also featured 100 receptions for 1,641 yards, then a state record and currently third in the GHSA record books.
King will look to make the team and make an impact for a franchise that went 13-3 and lost in the playoffs in double overtime to the eventual Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens.
Earlier in the fifth round, the Broncos drafted end Quanterus Smith from Western Kentucky.
