CLARKESVILLE – Search warrants served Tuesday led to the recovery of thousands of dollars in stolen property, the seizure of drugs and currency, and the arrest of three people.

“On April 9, 2013, special agents of the Mountains Circuit Narcotics Criminal Investigation and Suppression (NCIS) Team, working in conjunction with Toccoa Police Department, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies, Special Response Team, and K-9 Unit, and Cornelia Police Department executed two search warrants in Baldwin as part of an ongoing theft and narcotics investigation,” said Habersham County Sheriff Joey Terrell.

“The execution of the search warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately $7,000 worth of property stolen from the Walmart stores located in Toccoa and Cornelia, a small amount of marijuana, 44 grams of methamphetamine – having a street value of $10,500 – and $1,800.00 in U.S. currency.

Those arrested as a result of the investigation include:

• Benjamin Joel Heard, 42, of Baldwin, for possession of Schedule II drug with intent to distribute, and theft by receiving.

• Rickey Joe Land, 43, of Baldwin, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft by receiving, and possession of a Schedule II drug.

• Heather Christine Bain, 36, of Cleveland, for trafficking methamphetamine, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

The investigation is continuing.
