Tennis: War Eagles too much for Lumpkin County, 4-1

DAHLONEGA -- The Chestatee boys tennis team defeated Lumpkin County 4-1 on Thursday night in Dahlonega.

The War Eagles won the No. 1 and No. 3 singles matches, as Jonathan Cook topped Evan Bafile 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1 and Tyler Burgess defeated Kyle Hoard in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

Chestatee swept the doubles matches with Blaine Brown and Juan Carrion winning 6-0, 6-0 over Brandon Otero and Adrian Harris in the No. 1 match, and Reed Johnson and Casey Atkins storming by Lumpkin’s Nick LeBoef and Brett Davidson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.

The Indians’ Johnathan Gilreath avoided the sweep for Lumpkin County by winning the No 2 singles match.
