Tennis: North Hall girls pull off first-ever defeat of Buford

The North Hall girls tennis team pulled off a historic feat on Thursday, defeating Buford 3-2 for their first win over the Lady Wolves.

Buford took the No. 1 and 2 singles points -- 6-2, 6-2 for AnnaLea Stevens at No. 1 and 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 for Mariajose Ferreyros at No. 2 -- but North Hall swept the doubles points and got a key 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 win at No. 3 singles from Tricia Dial.

The Lady Trojans' No. 1 doubles team of Hannah Gibson/Kaitlyn Smith won 6-4, 6-4, while the No. 2 team of Courtney Barnes/McKay Higginbotham prevailed 7-5, 6-7 (1-7), 6-0.

North Hall (11-1, 5-0 Region 7-AAA) will face White County in its last region match on Tuesday in Gainesville.
