NE Ga. Heart Center recognized AHA/ASABy Staff GAINESVILLE – Northeast Georgia Heart Center has been awarded a 3-year Recognition Award by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) /National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Heart/Stroke Recognition Program.
The Heart/Stroke Recognition Program (HSPR) recognizes physicians/physician groups for providing quality care to their patients with cardiovascular disease or who have had a stroke. “For a person with cardiovascular issues, the right clinician can make the difference between living with cardiovascular issues as opposed to suffering from cardiovascular issues,” said Margaret E. O’Kane, President, National Committee for Quality Assurance. “By earning recognition, Northeast Georgia Heart Center has demonstrated that they provide effective, evidence-based care to their patients with cardiovascular issues.” "This recognition from NCQA affirms what we at Northeast Georgia Health System...have known for the better part of a decade: Northeast Georgia Heart Center is dedicated to delivering high-quality care to our mutual patients," says Carol Burrell, NGHS President & CEO. "Congratulations to the cardiologists, caregivers, leadership and support staff of NGHC. They are integral to the continued success of Northeast Georgia Medical Center and our heart program, which is consistently rated the best in the state and among the best in the nation." Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, responsible for approximately 950,000 deaths each year according to the CDC. “Despite clear evidence that reducing cholesterol levels and controlling high blood pressure prevents further health complications, many cardiac and stroke patients are not treated effectively for these conditions,” says Prad Tummala, MD, President of Northeast Georgia Heart Center. “This award from the Heart/Stroke Recognition Program is received with great satisfaction and pride by our practice, which strives to provide the best cardiovascular care to our patients”. The Heart/Stroke Recognition Program was developed to help clinicians and practices support the delivery of high-quality care. NCQA’s mission is to improve the quality of health care delivered to people everywhere. “We are proud to have achieved this recognition from the National Committee on Quality Assurance because it affirms our continuing commitment to providing the highest quality of cardiovascular care to our patients,” says William H. Beyer, Northeast Georgia Heart Center’s Chief Executive Officer. Link: Northeast Ga. Heart Center Link: Northeast Georgia Health System © Copyright 2013 AccessNorthGa.com
