Winder Police go public with photos, hope to locate wallet thiefBy Derreck Booth Editor WINDER - Police in Winder have released some surveillance photos in hopes of finding the man they believe is responsible for stealing several wallets Tuesday.
The three theft reports came from employees at area businesses. According to police, the man entered the businesses, claiming to be sent by the building's owners to perform services like carpet cleaning and pest control. When given access to office areas to survey his so-called work sites, the man allegedly stole wallets from purses and desks, witnesses told police. Police said the suspect is described as a heavy set, middle-aged black man wearing gold rimmed glasses. Authorities said the suspect matches suspect descriptions and video taken during similar incidents in Clarke and Oconee counties last weekend. Investigators said the suspect could be driving a late eighties or early nineties four-door Buick passenger car. Police believe the color of the car is light blue or grey.
