CORNELIA – The votes are in and Cornelia residents overwhelmingly approved two Sunday alcohol sales issues on Tuesday’s Special Election ballot.

The first, sale of alcohol by the drink on Sundays, passed 78.36 percent (105 votes) to 21.64 percent (29 votes).

The second issue, package sales of alcohol on Sundays, passed 77.44 percent (103 votes) to 22.56 percent (30 votes).

Meanwhile, Franklin County Elections and Registration Supervisor Tess Eubanks said liquor by the drink failed in Carnesville. The vote was 35-24, defeating the measure.
